Second Life in an Educational Setting?

I have never been drawn to second life but after further research I have considered different thoughts in the area of it aiding in education. There are a lot of opportunities given in the virtual world, and I think more people would benefit if they broaden their ideas/creations in the virtual world. Second Life in a classroom can give students engagement in a visual perspective and it also allows them to contribute their thoughts and ideas. With teacher guidance, a child can explore specific history significances and a "city" can be created to depict a history era. Students then can give their insights of how living in that specific era might be like. Other criteria could be art, weather changes, math dealing with accounting and number calculation, and plenty others. There are many ways to challenge your students by using the virtual world, and can be an asset to teachings.
